IMFCSS serves the Métis community living on Vancouver Island. Its programming focuses on child safety and family wellness. The IMFCSS space includes a playground, a computer lab, a teaching garden, and a community kitchen.
Métis Community Services Society of BC provides family-centered services to all those who need them, with special emphasis on the Métis population. Among the services offered are family counselling, an infant development program, and activities for youth. The Society has offices in Kelowna and Vernon.
FVMA is committed to building pride in Métis culture through education and community events. It also seeks to create economic opportunities and to advance Métis self-determination. Many members of the FVMA describe the organization as their extended family.
Vernon Native Housing Society offers a variety of low-cost housing options for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal residents of the Vernon area. These options include single family homes, townhouses, and apartments. The Society also has three BC Housing portable rent subsidies, which allows families flexibility in where they choose to live.
VNHS provides safe, secure and affordable housing to the urban Aboriginal community. It owns or manages 18 buildings with a total of 805 units. VNHS has recently expanded its portfolio to include housing solutions for women at risk, people living with mental illness, and the homeless. The Society is governed by an all-Aboriginal Board of Directors.
The Okanagan Métis & Aboriginal Housing Society provides affordable rental housing to people of Native ancestry. Historically the Society has focused on families with dependent children. However, the Society recognizes the growing need for single adult and seniors housing, and it plans to address that need when developing new inventory.
The M’akola Group of Societies is the largest Aboriginal affordable housing provider in BC, serving more than 5,000 family members. M’akola offers a variety of housing options, including apartment buildings, single family dwellings, and assisted living facilities for Elders. The majority of its housing is located off-reserve in urban centres.
Lu’ma Native Housing Society provides affordable housing to Aboriginal residents of BC. It currently owns and operates almost 500 units of housing. Though its primary focus is affordable housing, the Society offers other services, including a Patients’ Lodge in Vancouver for Aboriginal people who travel to the city for medical procedures.
Kekinow Native Housing Society provides affordable, comfortable housing for low income people of Aboriginal ancestry in Surrey and Chilliwack.

SHD provides on-reserve housing services for members of the Cowichan Tribes. This includes providing infrastructure, adding to housing stock, and managing rental accommodation. These are significant responsibilities because the Cowichan are BC’s largest First Nation band, with over 4,800 members.
