Children are the future of a community, so supporting good outcomes for children is the most important responsibility a community has. ANPs help provide that support. Among the services they offer are prenatal health advice, parenting courses, and Head Start programs. To encourage children to identify with their heritage, ANP programs incorporate traditional culture, recreational activities, and food.
The mandate of Lii Michif Otipemisiwak (LMO) is to support Métis children and families in a culturally appropriate manner. LMO’s services enhance mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, while also promoting the self-determination of the community. “Otipemisiwak” is a Cree word for the Métis people; it means “the people who govern themselves”.
Lalum’utul’ Smun’eem exists to promote a healthy Cowichan community, and it supports everyone having a voice. The focus is on the precious gifts of children, families, and elders, while respecting tradition. Lalum’utul’ Smun’eem works towards achieving this vision from a place of growth, equality and strength.
Laichwiltach Family Life Society serves the Aboriginal population of the of the Campbell River and Comox Valley region of Vancouver Island. The Society provides holistic services that address the cultural, mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of its clients.
Established in 1996, Kwùmut Lelum Child and Family Services is an Aboriginal-based agency located in Snuneymuxw territory. It provides caregiving services and community programs to nine First Nations on Vancouver Island.
Knucwentwecw Society provides provincially-mandated services to children and families in the band communities of Stswecemc/ Xgat’temc, Tsq’escen, Xats’ull, and T’exelc. These services promote connectivity to family, community, and culture. The Society believes that by working together, we can ensure that our children reach their full potential.
Kikino was founded in 2003 to serve the Métis community in the Prince George region. It provides prevention and education programs geared towards everyone in the community, recognizing that all families need support. Kikino’s programs are designed to nourish the dignity and integrity of the family and to affirm Métis cultural identity.
Indigenous Perspectives Society (IPS) offers training programs that help foster a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives, cultural differences, and the need for self-determination. The goal is to strengthen lives and build successful relationships in communities. IPS is accredited by CARF International for its Aboriginal Social Work training program.
The purpose of Hulitan Family and Community Services Society is to provide social and emotional support to Aboriginal children, youth and families living in the Capital Regional District. The Society ensures that its programs are culturally appropriate and available to all who need them, regardless of financial ability.
The mission of HCFSS is to become self-determining in supporting the children and families of the Haida Nation. This means restoring the traditional values that once guided family relationships among the Haida. HCFSS calls this journey “K’yuu Gawtlaas”, which means “the New Direction”.
FVACFSS is a fully delegated agency that provides culturally appropriate and holistic services including prevention, community development, and child welfare programs. FVACFSS serves Aboriginal children, youth, and their families residing throughout the Fraser Valley.
