Economic self-sufficiency is essential to strong Aboriginal communities. ANPs in the employment sector promote self-sufficiency through services such as job search assistance, training, and career counselling. And because these agencies are locally-based, they are sensitive to the specific employment challenges facing their communities.
ATEC delivers culturally sensitive employment services to Aboriginal people in the Kamloops area. It helps clients identify and overcome barriers to employment, and find and maintain meaningful jobs that fit their abilities and interests.
North Vancouver Island Aboriginal Training Society (NVIATS) is an Aboriginal training organization that operates under the Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy (ASETS), which is funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. The ASETS program provides funding to support the costs of programs, services and other activities undertaken to increase the participation of Aboriginal Peoples in the Canadian labour market.
