The mandate of the UNNS is to work toward the betterment of Aboriginal people living off reserve in BC. Qualification for membership in the UNNS is based solely on Aboriginal ancestry, not on definitions created by the outdated Indian Act. The major concern of the UNNS is to represent and protect the interest of Aboriginal people who currently have no voice in government decisions affecting them.
