The vision of Surrounded by Cedar is of healthy children who are connected to their families, communities, and culture. The organization’s programs are intended to give families the skills, knowledge, and support they need to ensure that their children, and their children’s children, will not enter the child welfare or criminal justice systems.

NIȽ TU,O has two fundamental goals. The first is to ensure that each child’s physical, spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs are met. The second is to maintain the traditional values of the extended family. The two goals are connected: a child’s needs are more likely to be met if they have the support of their extended family.

Indigenous Perspectives Society

Indigenous Perspectives Society (IPS) offers training programs that help foster a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives, cultural differences, and the need for self-determination. The goal is to strengthen lives and build successful relationships in communities. IPS is accredited by CARF International for its Aboriginal Social Work training program.

Aboriginal Infant Development Program of BC (AIDP)

AIDP helps families of infants who are at risk for, or have been diagnosed with, developmental delays. Programs are voluntary and focused on children ages 0-3. AIDP consultants provide home visits, activity planning, and developmental and family needs assessments, all in a culturally-sensitive manner. Consultants also assist families in accessing other health, social, and community services.
