UIWONA serves Aboriginal women, children and families in the Comox Valley and Northern Vancouver Island. Its programs promote family wellness, build community connections, and celebrate traditional culture. UIWONA also works with other registered charities on issues such as housing, education, parental support, and employment.

The vision of Surrounded by Cedar is of healthy children who are connected to their families, communities, and culture. The organization’s programs are intended to give families the skills, knowledge, and support they need to ensure that their children, and their children’s children, will not enter the child welfare or criminal justice systems.

The vision of the Sasamans Society is to strengthen our children and families in a community-driven and culturally appropriate manner. In the kwak’wala language, “sasamans” means “our children”; the society’s name reflects our intention to listen, acknowledge, and honour the voices of the communities that we serve.

NIȽ TU,O has two fundamental goals. The first is to ensure that each child’s physical, spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs are met. The second is to maintain the traditional values of the extended family. The two goals are connected: a child’s needs are more likely to be met if they have the support of their extended family.

Lalum’utul’ Smun’eem exists to promote a healthy Cowichan community, and it supports everyone having a voice. The focus is on the precious gifts of children, families, and elders, while respecting tradition. Lalum’utul’ Smun’eem works towards achieving this vision from a place of growth, equality and strength.

Laichwiltach Family Life Society serves the Aboriginal population of the of the Campbell River and Comox Valley region of Vancouver Island. The Society provides holistic services that address the cultural, mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of its clients.

Established in 1996, Kwùmut Lelum Child and Family Services is an Aboriginal-based agency located in Snuneymuxw territory. It provides caregiving services and community programs to nine First Nations on Vancouver Island.

Indigenous Perspectives Society (IPS) offers training programs that help foster a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives, cultural differences, and the need for self-determination. The goal is to strengthen lives and build successful relationships in communities. IPS is accredited by CARF International for its Aboriginal Social Work training program.

The purpose of Hulitan Family and Community Services Society is to provide social and emotional support to Aboriginal children, youth and families living in the Capital Regional District. The Society ensures that its programs are culturally appropriate and available to all who need them, regardless of financial ability.

AIDP helps families of infants who are at risk for, or have been diagnosed with, developmental delays. Programs are voluntary and focused on children ages 0-3. AIDP consultants provide home visits, activity planning, and developmental and family needs assessments, all in a culturally-sensitive manner. Consultants also assist families in accessing other health, social, and community services.
